Voice-led travel planning: a whole trip in one conversation

Concept and development of a platform where travellers plan their individual trip in conversation with an AI voice assistant and book it in one step.

01Situation

A young travel company wants to serve discerning independent travellers. Today this group has two options: online portals where flights, hotels and activities are pieced together across many tabs, or traditional travel agencies with good advice but tied to appointments and opening hours.

02Challenge

A trip made of several components has to work in time – time zones, check-in times, overnight flights. Wishes change during the conversation. And the result should not be a pile of separate bookings but one trip, one payment and one point of contact, including while travelling.

03Solution

We designed and built the platform with voice as the main input: travellers describe what they want freely, and the assistant assembles flights, accommodation, activities and transfers into a coherent itinerary that can be adjusted in the same conversation.

04Implementation

  • Voice interface for natural real-time dialogue, complemented by chat input.
  • Automatic itinerary that handles time zones, check-in logic and overnight flights.
  • Visual presentation with imagery, map and live price calculation for the whole trip.
  • Integration of commercially available booking APIs for flights, hotels and activities; booking and payment in one step.
  • Companion app for the trip with itinerary, vouchers and emergency contacts, usable offline.
  • A learning travel profile that reflects preferences in future planning – with attention to data protection and consent.

05Impact

  • Advice-like trip planning without appointments or opening hours.
  • One booking and one point of contact instead of many separate bookings.
  • Changes happen in conversation instead of restarting the search.
  • A platform that scales without a proportionally growing advisory team.
